These little jewels are Ruby-throated hummingbirds that visit our home every year. They arrive around the third week of March, nest and raise their young before leaving for their winter migration at the end of August. This year we bought window feeders that stick right on the glass, we were then really able to monitor their activity and I was able to get some great shots really close up! We have several feeders as well as several plants that provide sweet nectar for their pleasure. By July there are large numbers of male and female hummers, young and old, buzzing around the yard defending their feeding stations. They are especially active during rain showers and bring us hours of entertainment! I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I enjoyed taking them!
