My husband's paintball team played at Camp Blanding today (well, the whole weekend) and I took my son out to see what all the hype was about. He's been preparing for it for MONTHS. I heard it was one of the best games to go to. I almost didn't take my camera out...I know SHAME ON ME! Well, after what felt like a looong time to get out there, not to mention going down blanding to get there, I think everyone in O.P. was at the mall or trying to get in!! So after 2 hours we finally get there, and the place is packed! I met up with
PB JUNKIE to talk shop and get some fast action photography tips. So, I was there no more than five min and my husband handed me a mask and I was out on the battlefield with Rich from PBJ. I let him know I used to play (many many years ago!) so I was not nervous, except for my lens! It was awesome!! They had this huge tank that blasted music as it rode around lighting up people. People were in the old barracks shooting out windows, on top of buildings, dowon in ditches and sewers. We walked around, and he gave me some great suggestions and tips and we just took shot after shot! I was a little concerned taking images through the mask, it was really difficult to see, but after about 30 min I got the hang of it. We got stuck in a few lit up areas but remarkably I never got hit, until I was heading out and got one on the back of the leg. I think the only time it's ever hurt to me was when I got hit on the arm years ago. I can see why this is one of the most sought after games!! Thanks Rich, you and everyone at PB JUNKIE rock! I hope to hang with you guys again!
As I was laying down on the sidewalk getting a low picture of this, they took a side turn and
headed straight for me...I waited till they were about four feel from me before I got up.
